US History: 9/11

Today we talked about 9/11, and it's effects on this country. We also watched clips of the planes hitting the tower, towers collapsing, and of Obamas speech announcing the death of Osama bin Laden. Hearing about all the death is very difficult for me. I don't like hearing about sad things, and I don't handle it well. I think that the United States did all they could in order to help those who were trapped in the towers, and we should admire those who sacrificed their lives trying to help others.

US History Assignment One

I was born on November 11,1995 at 8:16 AM, but I have always lived in West Jordan. I have many interests, but none that I really excel at. I love to sing, and anything dance or music related. I danced for eight years, until I quit because it was taking up too much time, but I really regret it now. I miss it so much. I was in  the same class all 8 years, and they were so great. I’ve always been a singer, but I never did it anything with it until the seventh grade when I took a choir class, and I fell in love with it. I took choir all throughout middle school, and at the beginning of High School, but then I dropped it. I wasn’t having a good experience, and I wasn’t going to let it make me hate singing.

 
I am the second girl in a family of 3. I have two sisters. One older, and one younger. My parents are great, and have been happily married for just over 22 years. I have three cats, whom I adore, so very much. I also have a smelly little doggie. Friends are so important to my life. They mean the world to me. Currently, I have the most incredible boyfriend ever. He lives in Blackfoot, Idaho, and he is the greatest thing that has ever happened to me. He is my very best friend. I know that I can tell him absolutely anything, and it wouldn’t change a thing. He makes me so happy, and I’m so extremely lucky that he loves me, just as much as I love him.  

 
History is the things that have happened in the past. Everything that has happened is history, and everything that hasn’t happened yet will be. Everything in life has a history. History has the tendency of repeating itself. If you look at what has happened in the past, (the behavior of certain social or cultural groups, etc) you may be able to predict what they'll do in the future. People like routine. It makes living and doing things easier, if you already know what you're going to do.   

 
History is basically just background, and it's important for a couple of reasons. 1. As I said earlier, it makes it easier to predict what people may do 2. If you don't understand history, you might not be able to understand the joke or conversation.Have you ever been in a situation when people are talking about something that happened over the weekend, or over a break, and you have no idea what they're talking about, but everyone is laughing or is really upset, and you have absolutely no idea why? If you had been hangout when the event being discussed had taken place, you would be in on it. But you're not. This is one of those situations where background (or history) could come in handy.

The United States is a Republican-Democratic form of government, which means that pretty much everyone in the country gets an equal say in who rules them. The founding fathers wrote The Declaration of Independence, which states that every US citizen has the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. It allowed the United States to create it's own government, instead of relying on England.
